The Land of Promises - a Moving Memoir about the One Child Policy in ChinaOct 15

The Land of Promises is about the birth control policy in China, especially the one-child policy and its many consequences that still have repercussions today and will continue to exist in the future. At the same time, it is a personal project; it tells the story of Belgian parents who went almost to the other end of the world to adopt children. Through documents and archives dating from 1994, pictures taken by the author during her trips in China, text, research and testimonies, this work is about the discovery of her country of origin as a girl born in China and adopted internationally and transracially.
